PMB Commiserates With Nigerien President Over Boat Mishap

President Muhammadu Buhari has commiserated with his Nigerien counterpart, Alhaji Muhammadu Yuossifu over the unfortunate boat mishap last week along River Niger in Lolo village of Bagudo local government area of Kebbi State that claimed no fewer than 36 people.

Buhari who conveyed his condolence through the Kebbi State governor, Senator Atiku Abubakar Bagudu said that the people of Kebbi State and in deed the entire country are deeply touched over the boat mishap.

In a press statement signed by the chief press secretary to the state governor, Mu’azu Abubakar Dakingari and made available LEADERSHIP, yesterday, he said President Buhari called on all ECOWAS countries in charge of safety of water transportation to ensure adequate measures to regulate speeding and overloading by boat operators as well as enforce the use of safety jackets.

The statement also quoted the Nigerien President as appreciating the government and people of Nigeria for the sympathy and love for his country during its trying times even as he commended the people of Nigeria living in the border communities for their rescue operations.
