NUT Approves Ene’s Appointment As Acting Secretary General

The National Executive Council of The Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT) has approved the appointment of Dr Mike Ike Ene as Acting Secretary General of the Union. The appointment came as a result of the retirement of Obong Ikpe Obong who attained the mandatory retirement age of 60 years.

In a statement signed and made available to newsmen in Abuja, yesterday, by public relations officer of NUT,  Emmanuel Hwande, it revealed that Ene until his appointment holds a Doctor of Philosophy  (Ph.D) in Philosophy and Critical Thinking and was assistant secretary general and the state secretary of Akwa Ibom State Wing of the union.

He has served the Union in various capacities as two-time chairman,  Enugu State Wing Nigeria Union of Teachers, chairman, Nigeria Labour Congress Enugu State chapter and later the State Secretary of the Nigeria Union of Teachers Enugu State.

Ene has since assumed duties at the national head office of the union.
