Former Nigeria High Commissioner to Canada, Ambassador Dare Bejide and a Chieftain of All Progressives Congress (APC), Mr. Kola Alabi have congratulated Nigerians and the people of Ekiti State on the occasion of the nation’s 57th independence anniversary and the 21st anniversary of the creation of the state.

Bejide, a People’s Democratic Party (PDP) governorship aspirant in Ekiti State, said the occasion has presented the country yet another opportunity to take stock of its journey as a nation with a view to putting it on a steady course of progress and development.

In a statement in Ado-Ekiti, Monday, the former Secretary to the State Government stressed the need for Nigerians to reinforce those things that will promote the unity and peaceful existence of the country and coexistence of the various ethnic groups making up the nation and exhibiting such in their words and actions.

According to him, it is only in atmosphere of peace and unity that the country can develop and the dreams of the founding fathers of the country be realised.

Bejide, who congratulated Ekiti State on the occasion which also marks the 21st anniversary of its creation, urged Ekiti people to seize the opportunity of the moment to reflect on how far the aspirations for its creation have been realized.

The former envoy, however, charged Ekiti people to strengthen their core values and as well the distinct spirit of brotherhood and unity of purpose that exist among them in the interest of the development of the state and its people.

The PDP governorship aspirant said the 2018 governorship election in the state is yet another opportunity for them to make a choice for progress and transformation of the state by making a decision with their votes to elect a credible and man of integrity with the vision and mission of taking the state to great and enviable heights with all round development.
