Hon. Mike Afenfia, the Speech Writer to the Bayelsa State Governor, Hon. Seriake Dickson met with Physically challenged athlete in the state to mark the 57th Independence anniversary and 21st year celebration of the State creation.

Hon. Michael Afenfia, who is also the Chairman of the Association of Nigerian Authors (ANA), noted that the meeting with those he reffered to as “Special” was to celebrate them for making the state proud in sporting events both within and outside the shores of Nigeria.

Afenfia, while speaking during the meeting held at the Samson Siasia Stadium, said he is impressed by the luarels won by the athletes for the state, “your are a worthy Ambassador of your state and the country.”

He also called on the people of the state to have a positive perspective about Bayelsa and assist the present administration in changing the narratives, noting that inspite of the challenges being faced by the athletes, “they remained resolute in their performance to show the world that good things come from the State. That is what makes me proud that I am a Bayelsan”

In their seperate remarks, officials of the Physically challenged athletes commended the Governor’s adie over his gesture and show of love towards the athletes and officials.

The Head Coach Of The Physically Challenged Athletes In Bayelsa State , Mr. Anthony Imbimo Damiete thanked Hon. Micheal Afenfia For celebrating with them on the Independence Day, noting that this will indeed spur them to make Bayelsa proud once more‎ in Swimming, Short-Put, Table-Tennis, Basketball, Weightlifting etc, Both Nationally And Internationally.

Anthony called on the athletes never to feel disadvantaged because they have the capacity to make themselves and the State proud.

Also Speaking, Mr. Andrew Lucky, a Visually Impaired Coach, who for over six years was the National track and field ‎champion,commended the aide to the Governor and said he was impressed by his gesture and disposition to encouraging state athletes in the state.

Andrew Lucky also commended the State Government for the quick and constant response to issues bothering on their welfare and the employment of deserving Athletes who won laurels in various competitive tournaments.
