Malaria: NGO plans Nationwide Fumigation Exercise

As part of effort to improve the health standard of people ,a Non Governmental Organisation, Initiative for the Prevention of Malaria,(IPM) has pledged to embark on fumigation to cut down the spread of malaria in the country.

The National Coordinator, initiative for the prevention of Malaria, Nnenna Didigu, stated Wednesday when she paid a courtesy call on the Emir of Zazzau in his palace.

She said the visit was to identify with the emir also to officially notify him of their intention to make him the first patron of their NGO.

According to her, the country generaly is raveged by mosquitoe as a result of vect dirty and unhigienic environment, therefore informed the need foe their intervention.

The National Coordinator said her NGO would embark on sensitisation of communities through education, surveilance and the control of mosquitoes

She said their plans is to sensitize and teach people to go back to does days by keeping their environment clean and tidya to guard against mosquito

Nnenna added that they would use available facilities such as plane, drome to fumigate communities against malaria in the country

Earlier in his acceptance speech, the Emir of Zazzau Alhaji Shehu Idris,appeal to the NGO to outline all their requirements it takes to ensure success in the program

He advise them to emphasise on spraying of mosquitoe insecticide especially in the urban areas which would drastically reduce the spread of the mosquito

The Emir lauded the NGO for the initiatives, pledged to support them in the fight against malaria.
