The Kebbi State government says about 850, 000 children are targeted for measles vaccination across the state.
The permanent secretary, Kebbi State Ministry of Healthy, Hajiya Halima Dikko, stated this during the flag off of 2017/2018 measles vaccination campaign in Bagudo local government area of Kebbi State at the weekend .
According to her, the campaign will be carried out in two phases to cover all the 21 local government areas of the state from 9th November, 2017 and children between the ages of 9 months to 5 years of age will be vaccinated.
She said that in order to achieve a successful coverage, the State Primary Health Care agency in collaboration with development partners have made all the necessary arrangements .
‘’The state has 1,131 teams, 226 special teams deployed to all nooks and crannies and vaccination teams stationed fix locations close to houses in the wards and LGAs. It is planned that no care giver will travel more than 1 kilometer in trying to get their children vaccination,” she said.
In their separate goodwill messages at the event, Mr Akuso Yahya, from NPHCDA and Dr Femi Adelekan, from WHO all commended the Kebbi State governor for being the first governor to release his counterpart funds for the program.
Governor Abubakar Atiku Bagudu, of Kebbi State in his remarks commended the state Ministry of Health and the development partners.
He called on traditional leaders and patents to support the programme.
