The National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), under the leadership of Comrade Murtala Muhammad Garba, (GAMJI) has congratulated Prof Moji Christiana Adeyeye, on her recent appointment as the Director-General of National Agency for Food and Drugs Administration and Control (NAFDAC) by President Muhammadu Buhari.
In a statement signed and made available to newsmen in Abuja yesterday, NYCN directorate of Health, Dr Ezekoye Pascal commended the federal government for taking the right step in the right direction and putting a square peg in a square hole by appointing a technocrat, a renowned and seasoned Professor of Pharmacy to head NAFDAC.
“We plead that the services of technocrats and young professionals should also be employed in other sectors. It’s time to give youths the chance to make a difference and carve a niche.
“Though, this is a long awaited actualization and fulfillment of desires and yearnings of Nigerians, it will not only help to ensure effective and efficient productivity but will help to curb and eradicate the fake and substandard drugs and foods in our country.
“We wish to remind the new Director-General that to whom much is given, much is required, and that the fate of over 170 million Nigerians lies on her hand, its high time she take the bull by horn and eradicate the fake and substandard drugs and foods that is gradually rearing up its deadly head hence endangering the lives of Nigerians. We implore you to help restore the dignity of the agency which lost its glory since late Prof. Dora Akunyili left.
“We wish to assure you that Nigerian Youths are ever willing and ready to work and support the agency in every capacity to ensure the food and drug sectors are sanitised and the lives of Nigerian youths adequately protected ” he added.
