Church Offers Free Medical Outreach In Rivers




Over 300 residents of Borokiri community in Port Harcourt City local government area of Rivers State Saturday benefitted from a free medical outreach of the Glorious Destiny Family Church (Destiny Chapel).

The free medical outreach was jointly organised by the Akeem Idoniboye Ministries (AIM) and the Men of Destiny Fellowship, as part of activities to mark the 2017 Men’s Day of the Church.

Free exercise books and text books as well as other learning materials were also distributed to over 100 primary and secondary school students during the outreach, which was held at the Church’s auditorium, along Harold Wilson Drive, Borokiri, Port Harcourt.

Speaking to newsmen, the Lead Pastor of the Glorious Destiny Family Church, Pastor Akeem Idoniboye, said the programme was the Church’s way of giving back to the society.

Idoniboye said, “Last year we did this; we want to give back to the society. It is more like corporate social responsibility. Church is not just within the four walls, it impacting on the society and we felt we could gather people and reach out to them medically.

“So, that is what we are doing in conjunction with the Men’s Fellowship of the Church.
As they say in circular parlance, you truly cannot serve God if you are not healthy.”

Speaking to newsmen also, President of Men of Destiny Fellowship, Deacon Anayo Onukwugha, said the Church’s desire to see that members of its immediate community life in good health prompted the programme.

Onukwugha said, “As a Church, we believe that the health of the people of the community where we worship. It is only the living that praises God.”
