Residents of Ologbo community in Ikpoba Okha Local Government Council weekend rolled out drums in celebration of the installment of as the Paramount traditional ruler was coronated amid pomp and peagentry.
The event which took place at the Palace of the Enogie in Ologbo community had His Royal Highess, Prince Edun Akenzua, Enogie of Obazuwa-Iko and HRH Prince Ewaen Iyi-Eweka, Enogie of Oghada who both led the Prince on the task ahead.
His Royal Highness, Owen Jason Akenzua, in his remarks shortly after his installation said he is particularly glad and happy that God has made today a reality .
He thanked the reverred Oba of Benin, Omo N’ Oba N’ Edo, Uku’ Akpolokpolor, Oba Ewuare 11, whom he noted has stood by him as a father right from the beginnin.
” First, I thank God Almighty for granting me good health and the grace to succeed my father’s stool as the Enogie of Ologbo. Second, I’m grateful to His Royal Majesty, Omo N’ Oba N’ Edo, Uku Akpolokpolo, Oba Ewaure 11, Enigies , and indeed all Edos, by whose fiat I’m enthroned today as Enogie of Ologbo.
” My thanks to my biological father, HRH Prince( Dr) Eki Akenzua, the first Enogie of Ologbo, for his care and paternal duty over me. He was a loving father. May God and our ancestors grant him eternal rest.
Prince Akenzua however assured the good people of Ologbo Dukedom that he will continue to defend and protect their interest at all cost.
His words: ” This is a new era. By the grace of God, I shall build my administration on openness and candour. In all societies, there has always being dissenting voices. As it is said in Benin, Agbonhia ghi lovbie uhunmwun da obokpa meaning We do not all lie down on the open field and place our heads towards one side. There may have been mistakes, here and there. I appeal to all to forgive and forget such mistakes. Together, we shall begin on a clean slate.
” I urge all Indigenes, indeed anybody who is resident within the Dukedom of Ologbo, to feel free and come to me and discuss any issue. If I cannot proffer solution or answer to it, I assure you I will refer the matter to the Palace for His Majesty’s royal counsel, ” he noted.
Continuing, the Enogie enjoin all indigenes and residents of Ologbo Dukedom to cooperate with him saying with their support and understanding he is ready to render qualitative service adding: ” I assure all of protection and justice. Everyone of you who reside here should carry on with your daily chores in peace, without fear of molestation. I urge you to be law-abiding and bear constantly in mind, the philosopher”s advice that ‘when in Rome, do as the Romans’. By this, I mean that all those who live in the Dukedom of Ologbo should respect the norms and tradition of their hosts, Benin,” he emphasized.
He however thanked the good people of Ologbo community noting that he wants to support him just like they supported his father in his time
“ I want to thank the people of Ologbo Dukedom especially Oghobaye, Imasabor, Ologbo Central, Ajoki, Ikara, Ajamimogha, Kolokolo, Ajatiton, Abiola and others that constitute the Dukedom of Ologbo for the support they gave to my father. I appeal that you extend same support to me which you gave my late father, “he said.
The community Youth leader, Ogbeide Vicent who spoke on behalf of the youth said he is excited but pray to God for his wisdom and protection upon the Enogie.
