Members of the Southern Mandate of Nigeria (SMN) have described Rumours of an alleged impending appointment of Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso as minister in President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration as a “Greek gift”.

In a release and signed the forum’s national coordinator, Comrade Ikonomwan Francis, they wondered what such news will be filtering into the national consciousness when the Kwankwasiyya movement has “painted the political landspace red”.

The group cautioned that any untoward acceptance of such an offer will amount to Sen. Kwankwaso forfeiting his political ambitions and a betrayal of his teaming supporters.

The statement reads: “We members of Southern Mandate of Nigeria (SMN) wish to describe the rumour currently making around that SEN (Dr) Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso will be offered FCT Ministerial appointment by the President Mohammadu Buhari led federal Govt as a GREEK GIFT. It is obvious that they are already been threaten that Kwankwasiyya Movement has painted the political Land Space Red. It is now been considered as the second largest Political Force after the ruling party. Very soon it may overtake the ruling party.

“We wondered why it is now, when members of the public are now rating President Mohammadu BUHARI led administration very Low that they want to make this offer.

“How could one imagine, President Mohammedu BUHARI could undermine a man who led Five serving Governors to APC, he came second in 2015 APC Presidential Primaries and brought in the highest Votes from his home state in addition to mobilizing all his teaming supporters and follows across the length and breath of the Country to work for the victory of the now President Mohammadu Buhari

“It is worthy of mention that Sen. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso is gaining Momentum by day. It is therefore Pertinent for him to stay focused in actualizing his political desire Come 2019. Many Nigerians have strong Confidence in him, as he is seems to be the only Messiah to take us out of the present Social, Political and Economic quagmire.

“Fundamentally speaking, any attempt for Sen. (Engr) Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso to accept such divisive offer, it will be an indication that he is dropping his political ambition. This will amount to political betrayal to his teaming followers and supporters across the country and beyond.

“We of the Southern Mandate of Nigeria (SMN) therefore want to state emphatically that he should contest the Presidential Primaries in APC and the Presidential election. We will rather prefer him to loose gallantly than drop his political ambition for the sake of anybody.

“The present political calculations clearly shows that any attempt for Sen. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso to forfeit his political ambition in 2019, we are afraid that he might not be privilege to be the President of this Country again, because by 2023, it is expected that Presidency will come back to the south.

“However, we wish to state that President Mohammandu Buhari should ignore the call by some self seeking political gladiators for him to contest for second term in office. We are strongly of the view that his Age and Health challenges might not permit to give his best to this country, even as we give God the glory for his speedy recovery.

“President Mohammadu BUHARI means well for this country, we therefore want him to use the Nelson Mandela option by running for only one term in office. Looking at political History, President Mohammadu Buhari is the only one that is in the class of the great Nelson Mandela.

Signed
Comrade Ikonomwan Francis
National Coordinator”
