As part of efforts to reduce maternal, newborn and child death in Gombe State, a 2019 Governorship hopeful in State, Abubakar Habu Mu’azu has donated some sets of beds to the maternity ward of the Gombe State Specialist Hospital.
Speaking, Tuesday at the official presentation of the beds, Alhaji Abdulrahman Bello Dan’isa, who represented Habu Muazu said the donation was one among many of his philanthropic gestures for the sake of humanity.
He said there is the need for non government actors to support the State Government following the rising cases of maternal and infant mortality in the State.
Receiving the equipment, Medical Director of the Hospital, Dr. Abel Arnold Ardo commended Alhaji Habu for the humane effort which he said was a welcomed development.
He called on other well meaning individuals in the society to emulate the donor since the hospital is for all people in the State irrespective of any kind of differences.
The chairman of the hospital Community, Alhaji Ibrahim AA Haroun, said the gesture was an answer to a clarion call over the plight of women who visited the hospital for delivery.
He said the committee had visited the politician to plead for his assistance for the hospital which is lacking adequate equipment and that knowing very well that everything cannot be left to the Government alone.
