President Muhammadu Buhari yesterday wrote to Senate, requesting the approval for appointment of Mr . Anthony Ojukwu as Executive Secretary of the National Human Rights Commission.
Senate Bukola Saraki conveyed the request in a letter personally signed by Buhari which he (Saraki) read to senators during the plenary.
“In accordance with provisions of Section 8 of the National Human Rights Commission Act 2010, I have the pleasure to present Mr . Anthony Okechuwku Ojukwu for confirmation as the Executive Secretary of the National Human Rights Commission by the Senate .
While looking forward for your usual expedious consideration, please accept, Mr. Senate President, the assurances of my highest esteem,” the letter stated.
However, it is expected that the Senate will take appropriate legistlive action on the matter, whether to give its nod on the appointment or not, in the subsequent legislative days.
