Officials of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Zangon Kataf/Jaba federal constituency of Kaduna State have declared a confidence vote on its House of Representative member, Barr. Sunday Marshall Katung.
The party officials said, the federal lawmaker has done so much to justify a second term, adding that “We shall not change; we shall return Sunday Marshall Katung. For us, it is carry go. Our Rep member has been doing a lot and we need to keep encouraging him because we believe he will do more if he returns for the second time.”
They okayed the lawmaker’s second term bid in Zonkwa, Kaduna State while receiving vehicles donated to PDP Chairmen of Zangon Kataf and Jaba local government areas of the State by the lawmaker.
Speaking at the event, the Chairman and Secretary of PDP in Jaba local government area, Mr. Bissala Gyet and Gabriel Ishaku said the activities of the lawmaker both at the National Assembly and the constituency have earned him the second term bid.
According to them, the lawmaker has “done well and therefore deserves an automatic second term bid.”
“For us in Jaba local government area, we have taken our stand and we are solidly behind Barrister Sunday Marshall Katung for the second term, he has done so much by empowering women and Youth on skill acquisition, distribution of fertilizers to rural farmers as well as his intervention in health care delivery amongst many other things.“The People have seen and touched governance at the grassroots. We are very proud of the lawmaker for his activities and delivery of democratic dividends to the people,” they said.
Chairman and Vice Chairman of the PDP in Zangon Kataf local government, Mr. Sam Bassa and Mike Audu also passed a confidence vote on the lawmaker, adding that “it is only natural that Barrister Katung returns to the House of Representatives for the benefit of our people.”
According to Mr. Audu, “the performance of Sunday Marshall Katung has given him the second term. Nobody has done what he has achieved within the space of two years in the history of the constituency. The people are very happy with him.”
Party stakeholders in their various speeches, praised the quality representation the lawmaker has been able to offer to the country even as a first timer at the House of Representatives.
Two former Commissioners of Information and Local Government in Kaduna State, Mr. Ben Bako and Mr. Allahmagani Yohanna said the return of Katung to the House of Representative in 2019 is non-negotiable as the lawmaker has been able to deliver on his campaign promises within two years.
“We are grateful to God for giving us Barrister Katung as our representative in Zangon Kataf/Jaba constituency, we are very lucky to have somebody like him and so his return for the second term is non-negotiable.”
A former House of Assembly member, Mr. Matthew Gwazah and former Council Chairman of Zangon Kataf local government, Mr. Yusuf Kantiok also paid tribute to the leadership qualities of the lawmaker.
The Southern Kaduna PDP Chairman, Mr. Lukas Zamani simply said “Sunday Marshall Katung is fulfilling his promises to the people and to us, he is a blessed child.”
Also speaking, the Senior Legislative Aide to the lawmaker, Mr. Francis Sani simply thanked the PDP stakeholders for the endorsement of his boss for a second term, adding that the lawmaker is committed to meeting the needs of the his constituents.
