The Inspector-General of Police, Ibrahim Idris has warned the Police Mobile Force to desist from associating with unlawful groups or individuals in order to avoid creating problems for themselves.
The IGP, who gave the warning when he met with the commanders of the Mobile Force in Abuja Thursday, also charged them on professionalism ahead of the 2019 general election.
Speaking specifically to commanders from South East, the IGP warned against patronising with groups like IPOB and noted that anyone found wanting, will be penalised.
Recall that the IGP had who at the monthly meeting with officers of the rank of Commissioners of Police and above in Abuja on Tuesday, urged police officers to avoid temptations from politicians who would want to compromise them.
According to him, “You have to avoid temptations from political actors at the cost of having smooth and credible elections in 2019.”
He charged commissioners of the various commands to impress it on their officers to be civil in discharging their duties adding that there was need for officers and men of the force to be steadfast in carrying out their duties professionally.
