It was a long queue at most automated teller machines, (ATM), as customers yesterday decried the poor services of the machines which has brought about long queue at various locations of the machines in Benin.
Some residents who spoke in a separate interview, said they have faced lot of discomfort just to withdraw money.
While attributing the poor services of the ATMs to network challenges, they respondents also decried the attitudes of the managements or the operators of the machines.
The long queue have characterised ATMs across Benin since Tuesday, a situation that have resulted into long queue at these machines.
However, a banker who pleaded for anonymity, attributed the poor services to that of network challenges.
He appealed for patience for the customers, nothing that they were working round the clock to resolve the issue.
This promise was however disputed by one of the respondents who said this have become a yearly vow by the managements of these banks.
According to Mr Andrew Usifo, “We are not just hearing this for the first by time, in fact, this poor services of the ATMs have become a yearly ritual at this time of the year.
“Last December it was like this and they did promise to work on it just like they are saying now, but what have we this year again. Thin bugs cannot contain like this.
“They need to improve and work on their network, especially against the backdrop of expected high traffic occasion by the Christmas celebration.”
Another resident, James Acha, bemoaned the fact that Nigerians victually have to go through lot of suffering to get what they want.
“I just cannot understand this; that we have work extra hard to make money and another toutorous process to even keep the for safe keeping in these banks, and again another challenges to get to withdraw the money,” he said.
John Ebidah while nothing that he had to wake as early as 5.30am in order to use the machine, said most of the machine were not working because of network issue.
Ebidah who said he reside alone g Airport road, stressed that none of the several ATMs along the airport road is dispensing cash as at 8am on Thursday.
“As I speak with you, even the banking hall is no different. It is filled with people trying to make one transaction or another,” he stated.
