ANDY ASEMOTA, Katsina
Katsina State governor, Aminu Bello Masari, has approved the refund of N750 million examination fees of no fewer than 6000 candidates that scored over four credits in last May/June senior secondary school certificate examination in the state owned institutions.
The chairman of the screening and refunding committee, Haruna Muhammad Tukur, who disclosed this during the disbursement of the money to the beneficiaries at Government Girls Senior Secondary School, Katsina, said the move is designed to encourage students to be more dedicated in their studies and revive the fallen standard of education.
Tukur, noted that the governor directed the committee to visit the 12 education zones to refund the examination fees to all the eligible candidates, adding that those that were either omitted or got their results after the payment had been approved would be considered after the ongoing exercise.
Some of the lucky parents and candidates, who spoke with LEADERSHIP commended the gesture which they described as welcome development.
