BY ANDY ASEMOTA, Katsina
Two time speaker of the Katsina State House of Assembly and the Katsina North senatorial district candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2015 general election, who has defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC), Ya’u Umar Gojo-Gojo, has pronounced the quest of PDP to reclaim the presidential and state’s governorship seats misplaced hope.
Speaking during the unveiling of the APC Consultative Forum, Gojo-Gojo said the success of Masari administration contrary to the propaganda of the PDP had spelt doom for the PDP in the state.
He said the defection of the erstwhile leaders of the PDP in the state, most of whom are now members of the APC Consultative Forum tasked with designing strategies for the APC to emerge stronger in the next polls, is a testimony that PDP is fighting a lost battle.
Members of the forum which has former chairman of Batagarawa local government area under PDP administration and the state commissioner for Works and Transport, Tasiu Dahiru Dandagoro, as secretary, include former commissioner during previous administration, Musa Adamu Funtua, and former local government boss under PDP, Tukur Iliyasu Shagumba, as vice chairman and treasurer respectively.
Others ex-stalwarts of PDP in the forum include Comrade Bilyaminu Rimi, Abdullahi Tandama, Yusuf Barmo, Mohammed Ilalla and Ibrahim Teacher among others.
Similarly, the state APC vice chairman in Funtau senatorial zone, Bala Abubakar Musawa, who spoke on behalf of the Katsina APC chairman, Shitu S. Shitu, said the progress so far recorded by the Masari administration, its plans and vision of making Katsina State better and more efficient could not be compared with what it inherited after 16 years of PDP government in the state.
Shitu expressed confidence that APC would take the state to greater heights and stressed the need for the APC faithful to remain focused and extend hand of friendship to members of the other political parties.
He also enjoined the party supporters to remain loyal and committed to the party at all levels, saying both the executive and the legislative arms of the state government have demonstrated their resolve to meet the aspirations of the people by giving the state a duly signed budget before the end of last year.
