Security operatives from the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps and the Nigeria Police, on Thursday, beat up journalists attached to the Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi at the Commissioning of the Kaduna Dry Port, in Kaduna.
The journalists, who were on lawful assignments in Kaduna state, had gone ahead of the minister convoy to secure a place since President Mohammed Buhari was expected at the event, when men of the security operatives refused them enterence even after proper identification.
Correspondents of AIT/Raypower FM, Enemaku Ojochigbe and that of the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), Mrs. Taye Adeni were beaten up by men of the Nigeria Police.
Also manhadled was a Ministry of Transportation press unit official, Mrs. Ijeoma Chijioke Adindu who was leading the journalists.
The dark tall mobile police officer with nose mark pictured here personally brutalized the journalists and cocked his gun to shoot at anyone who complained.
He also threatened to tear gas the reporters.
The NAN reporter who was punched in the face by the said mobile police man was rushed to the Red Cross mobile treatment bay and was given first aid.
She was given an injection and the eye was treated. The reporters sensing more danger retreated as they where denied access to the venue by the overzealous security agencies.
The journalists who came from Abuja, had successfully covered the President Mohammadu Buhari’s commissioning of the Nigerian Railways Corporation (NRC) new locomotives and train coaches.
The journalists who had even arrived the venue of the ahead President Mohammadu Buhari explained that they where invited by the Federal Ministry of Transportation to cover the event.
