Oyo State governor, Senator Abiola Ajimobi has earmarked N33 billion for the dualization and rehabilitation of 10 roads across the state for the 2018 fiscal year.

The office of the state governor is also expected to spend a whopping N4 billion for its operations in the financial year.

The state’s Commissioner for Finance and Budget, Abimbola Adekanbi who revealed this while giving the breakdown of 2018 budget proposals analysis in Ibadan on Monday, assured that all the oncoming projects would be completed before the expiration of the tenure of the present administration in the state.

Defending the governor’s office huge budget, the commissioner said the amount was not enough to meet the demands of the office.

According to him, this is in furtherance of the infrastructural development policy of the state government.

The roads include the dualization of Agodi Gate-Alakia-New Airport, Saki township-Ilesha-Ibariba/Kwara State boarder road, Oke-Adu-Idi-Ape-Iwo road, Eleyele-Ido-Eruwa road and Beere-Elekuso-Agbeni-Dugbe road.

Others are Oritamerin-Ayeye-Inalende-Mokola road with spur to Felele Ibadan, Oke-Adu-Molete road with spur of Mapo-Oritamerin, Moniya-Ojutaye-Iseyin road, Beere-Orita Aperin-Akanran-Gbedun-Dagbolu and Apata-Bembo-Olosun.

The commissioner said in spite of the low performance of the 2017 budget, the 2018 budget was evolved from a zero based budgeting approach which made it mandatory that every budget item (revenue and expenditure) was only included after strong and thorough justification.

While noting that the 2018 budget presented by the state governor, Senator Abiola Ajimobi was tagged “Budget of Stabilization”, the commissioner said it’s key policy were thrust and philosophy.

He explained that the priority of the state government would be on infrastructure, agriculture and its entire value-chain, education and health while other sectors would be given deserved attention.
