Immediate past caretaker committee chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Senator Ahmed Makarfi has condemned the increasing spate of attacks and killings in some parts of the country by suspected herdsmen, urging the federal government to rise up to the challenge and fully secure the nation against further attacks.
Makarfi who was a two term governor of Kaduna state and two term senator who represented Kaduna North senatorial district of the state expressed his condolences to the Governors and people of Taraba, Rivers and Benue States who were victims of the recent attacks and killings by armed herdsmen in their communities.
In a statement he issued Wednesday and made available to newsmen in Kaduna, he urged the federal government to join hands with the various State Governors and people in the affected communities in finding lasting solution to the frequent attacks and killings which has sent wrong signals to the sustenance of national peace and stability.
“My condolences to the Governors and people of Benue, Rivers and Taraba States over the unnecessary and avoidable loss of lives and properties in the respective States”, Senator Makarfi stated.
Canvassing for a more proactive measure to end the menace of attacks and killings by gunmen, the former PDP Chairman said: “I urge the Federal Government to fully work hand in hand with the respective States to apprehend and prosecute the actions as well as restore full normalcy and security”.
“All well meaning Nigerians should help in fully securing every nook and cranny of our country”, he added.
