The Annual Calabar Christmas festival has grown over the past decade to become internationally recognised as Africa’s largest street party, drawing revellers from all over the world to come celebrate the rich culture and traditions of the people of Cross River and Nigeria as a whole.

With amazing performances by Iyanya, Orezi, Styl Plus, Debie Rise, circus acts and international performers from South America and Europe just to name a few, guests were treated to a true Calabar carnival with tons to eat and drink till dawn.

Kick starting the years festivities is the Carnival flagship event, the Annual Governors ball, instituted in 2016 by His Excellency the Executive Governor of Cross River State, Sen. Dr. Ben Ayade.

The event aimed at celebrating the achievements of the past year is to entertain stakeholders, International Delegates, friends of the state and of course launch the carnival celebrations. First held at the prestigious Calabar International Conference Center in December 2016, this year’s celebration didn’t disappoint, with event planners SabiGroove Limited turning up the look and feel of the event quite a few notches, creating a surreal fairy tale Christmas wonderland of crystals, fairy lights and flowers on the lawn of the Governors lodge.

The Governors Christmas Party which was put together by SabiGroove Limited, an indigenous Luxury events management company in partnership with EddieMPR, and sponsored by Glenfiddich Nigeria, the world’s most awarded single handedly scotch whiskey, Laurent Pierre Champagne, Zenith Bank Nigeria, and Cocacola Nigeria would remain a toast in the memory of the people.
