The community of Odeomu in Osun State got into a frenzy of a sort when a record seventeen thousand widow stormed the village. It was as if a crusade was going or the Osun State Governor had summoned for the widows in different villages.

The sleepy town which has Kings University, a private university instituted by KingsWay Int’l Church, also received eminent guests as the deputy Governor, Mrs Grace Tomori, Senator Iyiola Omisore and men of God came to show support to the initiative of Pastor and Pastor (Mrs) Matthew & Yemisi Ashimolowo.

A widow by the name, Sekinatu Jamodu told LEADERSHIP that she had been a frequent visitor of this Ashimolowo Widows Empowerment AWE initiative for ten years and has always benefited from the benevolence of the man of God and his wife. Speaking in Yoruba, the Muslim native of Ikire said, “Allah will bless this man of God because he has wiped my shame and made me to believe that i can amount to somebody.

I have come here for ten years now and i have never been turned down. My fellow widows and I are more than elated today for what they have done as you can see the crowd here,” she stated.

The convener noted that the empowerment programme had been running for past twelve years non stop, helping the widows to live healthier.
