An Abuja-based fashion company, Hopez Tude Rizons Limited is set to
host the first edition of African Fashion For Peace (AFFP) in Abuja on
February 17th, this year.
The chief executive officer (CEO) of the company, Chioma Offor, told
LEADERSHIP that the project was formed in the wake of insurgency in
the country, adding that it was an advocacy for peace in the country.
According to her, “Fashion has gone beyond clothing. It is a medium to
foster peace across the world. Our focus is on conflict zones to end
conflict in over 20 African countries, which encourages integration
and unlock opportunities in economic diversification for sustainable
growth and development, especially in African natural fabric.
Offor noted that the theme “Mainstreaming African Fashion for
Enduring Peace and Harmony on the Continent” is apt at the time of
various communal clashes in the country.
She also disclosed that the company is in partnership with Spanish
Embassy and other international and indigenous designers, adding that
the programme would feature awards for various peace ambassadors
within and outside the country.
