Woman In Court Over Alleged N450,000 Fraud

The police in Sokoto on Thursday arraigned one Hadiza Abubakar of Tundun Wada area of the state capital in a Chief Magistrates’  Court for N460,000 fraud.

The defendant is facing a charge bordering on criminal conspiracy, breach of trust and cheating which contravene  Sections 99 and 322 of the Penal Code Law.

The prosecutor, Cpl. Umar Rabi’u, told the court that the defendant  on Jan. 2  deviously collected N460, 000 from the complainant to purchase wrappers for sale.

He added that  the defendant, however,  refused to buy the said wrappers and  converted the money to her personal use.

The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The Chief Magistrate, Abubakar Adamu, admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of  N100, 000 with one surety in like sum  who must reside within the jurisdiction of the court.

Adamu adjourned the case till Feb. 1.  for further hearing. (NAN)
