Residents of Lagos have been assured that the new transport reform in the state is carefully tailored to enhance their welfare.

The acting Chairman of the Adhoc Committee on Transportation, Hon. Fatai Mojeed who made this remark during an inspection of Ikeja Bus Terminal said the new transportation project whereby the state government would make buses available would make life comfortable for the people.

On the visit were some members of the committee, which include the Managing Director of the Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA), Mr. Abiodun Dabiri and some staff of the organisation.

Mojeed stressed that the visit was part of the oversight functions of the Committee.

According to him, “Some money has been expended on the project and we want to see if the money was judiciously utilised. When the projects start, the issue of traffic jams would be reduced in Lagos State. People could leave their homes and arrive at their destinations within a short period of time” adding that, “some of the buses that cause traffic jams on our roads would be reduced.”

He stated that with the project, the government will ensure that the vehicles are repaired as at when due, adding that it is going to be different from others.

Mojeed also stated that, “We will make sure that all the vehicles are in good condition and they would be managed by a private company.”
