PDP Vows To Uphold Tenets Of Democracy



The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Kuje chapter has restated its commitment to democratic principles in running affairs of the chapter.

In an interview with newsmen, the party’s publicity secretary, Sir Henry Ugbaja, stated that the PDP was not going to operate outside the confines of democracy.

Ugbaja assured members of the party that there won’t be influence from the executives or imposition of aspirants for any position, stating that only through internal democracy that candidates would emerge, to contest with other political parties.

He said that the party’s aspirants, that would be vying for various positions would be allowed to emerge through a transparent arrangement, in line with the best practices of democracy.

The publicity secretary stated that due to the need to ensure that Kuje residents enjoy dividends of democracy, the party would be happy seeing competent and stainless people coming out to vie for chairmanship seat and other positions.

He disclosed that PDP’s arrangement in the council had settled for Gade, as the major ethnic group, to bring a credible candidate for the chairmanship position, which according to him, would emerge through a transparent process.

According to him, “Kuje PDP has no specific person in mind to present, but the Gade people who are due for the position are free to present any aspirant that they are comfortable with.”

On the recent election timetable released by the Independent Electoral  Commission (INEC), Ugbaja said the party was pleased with the electoral umpire’s decision, adding, “The early released of election timetable will give room for proper planning and hitch free exercise.”
