The National Development and Delta State People’s Network (NDPN) has cautioned against the alleged plan by the Niger-Delta Avengers (NDA) to resume bombing of oil facilities in the Niger-Delta region, saying it would be self-sabotage if the threats arecarried out.
National coordinator of the group,Mr. TojuBinitie, told journalists yesterday in Asaba that the NDA issuing a fresh threat would be self-sabotage and unrealistic, adding that aside creating and sustaining insecurity in the area, it would not be in the interest of the local people.
According to him: “Such act if carried out, would be sabotage against self, particularly on a large scale that could create huge economic, environmental and health challenges for them” and consequently advised the NDA to sheathe its sword andresort to dialogue in resolving issue affecting the people whose interest they claim to be projecting.
He said rather than sabotage, there was need to liaise with development partners to attract infrastructure, and other forms of development to the region for the benefit of the local people.
Binitie, however, warned that any further insecurity in the region would not be in the interest of the area as it would not only determine investors, but could make even the existing ones relocate elsewhere.
