The Berom Youth Moulders Association (BYM), has declared that 54 Berom communities were completely sacked and renamed by the Fulani herdsmen in the last 10 years in Barkin Ladi and Riyom local government of Plateau State.
According to them, 93 communities have experienced one form of attack or the other in Riyom, Barkin Ladi, Jos South and Jos North council areas and were displaced by the activities of these herdsmen in the area.
BYM national president, Choji Chuwang, made this disclosure while addressing a press conference in Jos, pointing out that the Berom Nation has no land to donate for cattle colony, stressing that their community has been choked up with urbanisation and developments while Tin mining has already devastated large portions of their land.
They called on the state federal government to, as a matter of urgency, demonstrate justice by reclaiming their large portions of already diminishing lands that had been forcefully occupied by some of these killer herdsmen.
“Our people have been traumatised, several killed and properties worth Billions of Naira destroyed to make them ee their ancestral homes which are now being occupied by the Fulaniherdsmen.”
