A Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress of Nigeria APC in Cross River State, Rtd Gen Enang Ukangu, has charged aggrieved party members involved in the suspension of the Minister for Niger Delta Affairs, Pastor Usani Usani, from the party in the state to sheath their swords, work as a team to strategize on how to seize power from the opposition PDP In the state in 2019.
Briefing journalists yesterday in Calabar, on the purported ministers’ sacked by the leadership of the party in the state, Ukangu accused the warring factions of trying to ruin the party in the state and called for a round table discussion to enable all the factions find a lasting solution to the crises which if not urgently tackle may mar the chances of the APC winning elections especially now that the battle for who govern Cross River State in 2019 is drawing closer.
The plea by the party chieftain followed recent reports in the media by the APC National Zonal party chairman South South Prince Hilliard Etta and the acting party chairman of the party in the state, Sir John Ochala that the state working committee has suspended the minister for offences which ranges from insubordination, illegal assembly and imposition of a state party chairman without following due process.
Also speaking on the issue, was Comrade Umana Eteyen who advocated for the peace, unity and reconciliation of of all party men and women for the stability of the party so as to take the APC to enviable heights in Cross River State in 2019 instead of being at each other’s throat stressing that disunity in the party was capable of tearing the party apart.
The party chieftain sues for peace and unity of all party faithful in the state stressing that the peace and unity in the party were very necessary ingredients that cannot be ignored in the course of trying to make the party formidable in the state adding that a house that any house that is divided is bound to collapsed.
However another chieftain of the party, Chief Edward Utang who preached on the need for peaceful co-existence of party faithful is Chief Edward Utang who in his words said, “ I urged all party men and women to walk in one accord, speak in one voice talk to their supporters for the interest of the party if we are to win elections in 2019”.
“It is only when there is peace that we can afford to win elections. No election has ever been won when the party men speak in different voices. It is only when we walk in one accord mobilize our supporters that we can be able to replicate what our party did at the national level and sweep the polls in Cross River State”.Utang maintained.
The party chieftain appealed to the party stakeholders in the state to have a re-think and reverse the decision of the leadership of the party which said that they have suspended the minister for Niger Delta Affairs for allegedly failing to conform with the norms and values of the party so that peace can rein in the party.
