The death toll from the attack on Ngutswen village in Gassol Local Government Area of Taraba State have risen to six, LEADERSHIP Sunday has gathered.
This came barely 72 hours after Taraba State governor, Arch. Darius Ishaku, raised the alarm over an impending attack on the state.
However, it was gathered that gunmen numbering about thirty between Thursday and yesterday has slaughtered six persons to death as community was completely sacked by suspected to be cattle migrants.
Narrating the ordeal to LEADERSHIP Sunday yesterday in Jalingo, Elder Nagwe Ayoche, who is a resident of the community said that the gunmen numbering over thirty stormed the village about 10:30pm and opened sporadic shooting, killing six persons instantly.
He explained further that since the begging of this year, over ten persons have so far been killed by the suspected herdsmen.
He informed that the herdsmen who has been terrorizing in the area vowed to continue to carry out their perpetrator act.
But when contacted, Taraba State Police Public Relations Officer, ASP David Misal who reacted in a telephone interview insisted that only four persons were killed and worn the public to avoid making utterances capable of causing more problems in the society.
