Edo State Police Commissioner, Babatunde Kokumo, has confirmed the arrest of five policemen that allegedly pushed a commercial driver to his death.
The death of the driver identified John sparked protests in some parts of Benin City which led to the burning of five police Hilux vans and killing of three other persons.
Kokumo said he has set-up a Departmental investigative panel of inquiry to look into their involvement in the fatal accident that killed a driver.
He stated that Policemen attached to a patrol vehicle were alleged to have cause a fatal accident.
His words, “We have set Departmental investigative panel of inquiry to look into their involvement in the fatal accident that caused the death of a driver.Whether they push him or not is a matter to be investigated.”
