President Muhammadu Buhari yesterday commiserated with the Buratai family over the death of Alhaji Yusuf Buratai, the father of the chief of Army Staff, Lt Gen Tukur Buratai.
President Buhari in statement by his special adviser media, Femi Adesina said the service of the ex-serviceman and veteran of World War II would always be appreciated and remembered.
The President believed that Alhaji Buratai’s years of service to the nation epitomized by courage, skill, determination and devotion has been rightly bequeathed to his son, who is diligently serving the country.
The President prayed that the Almighty Allah will comfort all who mourn the late patriot and grant his soul eternal rest.
Meanwhile, a federal government delegation led by the National Security Adviser, Gen Babagana Monguno ( rtd) were in Maiduguri to condole the chief of Army Staff’s family.
Late Baba Buratai as he is fondly called and a World War 11 veteran who served the West African Army in 1942 died Friday morning in Maiduguri. He was laid to rest amidst crowd of sympathizers at the famous Gwange Cemetery at 2:pm in Maiduguri, the Borno state capital yesterday.
Borno State governor, Kashim Shettima in his remarks, said the mammoth crowd that converged at the Jummaat Mosque and performed the burial and funeral prayers of the late Yusuf Burutai was a clear testimony that baba lived a better and honest live.
He prayed God to grant him eternal rest and forgive all his sins.
Other dignitoires at the burial and funeral prayers include the Chief Of Air staff , Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar ,the Theatre Commander Operation Lafiya Dole, Maj Gen Rogers Nicholas , Other Top Militry Commanders, the chairman Senate Committee on Defence, Senator Abu Kyari, Senator Mohammed Ali Ndume, Chairman House Committee on Defence, Aliyu Betara among others.
Late Yusuf Burutai aka Baba is aged 106 years. He is survived by one wife, 15 children comprising 10 females and 5 males among whom is the Chief of Army Staff, Lt Gen Tukur yusuf Brutai, the Chief Of Army Staff.
