The Adamawa/Taraba Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has handed over 1648 bags of foreign rice,642 cartons of Savon soap and 7 bags of maize to state government for distribution to IDPs in the state.
The area comptroller of the command, Mr Adetoye Francis, said the donation is in compliance with directives from the comptroller general of Customs, Col Hameed Ali ( rtd) through the National Logistic Committee to being hope for IDPs.
Francis noted that the items were seized at various formations from smugglers across the command and were condemned by the court of law.
Receiving the items, executive secretary of ADSEMA , Haruna Furo, on behalf of the state government said the food items,would be distributed to IPDs camps, seven affected local government areas and host communities.
Furo assured judicious distribution geared towards cautioning the effects of Boko Haram on the IDPs.
The handing over ceremony were witnessed and signed all the representatives of military and paramilitary in the state.
The security agencies promised to provide adequate security escorts and monitoring of the distribution of the food items.
