Borno Acquires Property Worth N1. 198B To Address Accommodation Challenges.



To address shortage of accomodation to cater for needs of visitors and public use , the Borno state government said it has acquired properties worth N1.198 billion within the past one year. This was disclosed Yesterday in Maiduguri by the Commissioner of works and Transport, Alhaji Adamu Lawan in Maiduguri, the Borno state capital.

According to Lawan, some of the properties acquired include , a property at Ngomari Airport along kano-Jos road acquired for conversion as model no BO 3294 along sir Kashim Ibrahim way allocated to state Emergency Management Agency ( SEMA) as office, NITEL territorial Headquarters along post office, and a property no. N/E 349 located at old GRA, Maiduguri.

Others he disclosed are : Kandara palace hotel ( Former Deribe hotel ) , acquired for model school. Property within New GRA Bama road , acqiured for government lodge. Property along Airport road opposite peaugeot workshop, acquired as Elkanemi warriors football Quarters. MT Monguno’s property , acquired as school extension , and former Kanuri transport property Kano road.

Hon Lawan said in addition to this , the Borno state government has pushed her robust plan for post insurgency reconstruction programme by completing the installation of 130 tonnes Marini Asphalt plant and another 170 toones per hour Marini being install to enable the ministry accomplish tasks in hard to reach areas .

He said between now and 2019 , the ministry’s attention is geared towards completing the currently ongoing and suspended projects , abandoned over years due to security challenges , in addition to the construction of Dikwa – Gamboru Ngala, as well as Gamboru-Ngala – Rann roads, and construction through concessioning agreement with the Federal infrstructure concessioning and Regulatory Commision (ICRC) of 8 state roads, totalling 727km across the state.

“To this end , I wish to further inform you that, we held discussion with Federal ministry of works , Housing and power on the completion of Dikwa – Gamboru Ngala abandoned Federal Government project ; while the contractor has expressed readiness to withdraw formally from the projects . ” The Federal ministry of works has agreed to engage Borno state ministry of works to construct the road through the Borno state road maintainance Agency (BORMA),” Hon Lawan said
