Sports Promote Peace, Unity – Emir Sanusi II

The Emir of Kano, Muhammad Sanusi II, has described sports as one of the critical developmental activities that promote peace and unity. He stated this when Assene-Laborex Limited, a pharmaceutical business division of CFAO Nigeria plc, subsidiary of Eurapharma, and part of the CFAO- Toyota Tsusho Corporation paid him a courtesy visit.

The Emir, who is the grand patron of Kano State Youth Rugby Championship, urged for more Stem Cell Transplant.

He thanked Assene-Laborex for their support, saying sports as one of the critical developmental activities engender peace and unity amongst the citizens and stated that couples considering marriage should be very aware of their genotype beforehand.

The Emir received the traditional South African mementoes from Mr. Marc Thomson. Deputy Governor of Kano State, Prof. Hafizu Abubakar was also presented with the honour.

Speaking earlier, the managing director of Assene-Laborex Limited, Paul Hogan, had pledged the company’s support for Kano State youths in healthcare, education and rugby sport.

He makes the pledge during the 3rd annual Try Schools Rugby Tournament at the Sani Abacha Stadium, Kano.

Mr. Hogan reiterated the company’s determination to continue supporting youth awareness in the State regarding sickle cell anemia and knowing their genotype early in order to live active, healthy and successful lives.

Also speaking, at the event, the deputy governor, Prof. Afiz Abubakar thanked Assene-Laborex for supporting the event and called on other organizations, institutions and individuals to emulate the company’s commitment.

Also, Ade Adebisi, a former England International rugby player who is living with Sickle Cell Anemia (SCD) was also there as brand ambassador to coach and motivate the youth’s that they can achieve their dreams even with SCD.
