The leadership of the Coalition of APC Youth Support Groups, South-south zone, has passed a vote of confidence on the coordinator, Presidential Amnesty Programme Brig. Gen. Paul Boro, urging him to do more.
Addressing a press conference in Abuja on Wednesday, Chairman of the Coalition Amb. Fubara Dagogo, who spoke on behalf of other stakeholders of the governing party, said the success stories recorded very fast since Boro’s assumption of office made the young men and women in the South-south believe that with right people in leadership change is possible.
The group said under the current leadership of Gen. Boro, Presidential Amnesty Programme has lived up to it essence of establishment, which is to “constructively resolving the conflicts in the Niger Delta region.”
Fabura, who is also the leader of APC South-south Youth Assembly, said the assessment of Gen. Boro to his group shows that his office has never discriminated against participants of the Amnesty programme despite his political inclination, which is a rear attribute of leaders.
The group encouraged Paul Boro to drive strength from the current challenges facing his office and leadership of the amnesty programme as reason to meet up his milestone given to him by President Muhammadu Buhari, bearing in mind that success comes with challenges.
According to leader of the group, Gen. Paul Boro has successfully brought discipline into the administrative policy of the Amnesty programme by ensuring that repentant agitatators are not only reform but well prepared to take up the leadership role in the society, in such a way that will ensure development of the region and beyond.
The group also urged the amnesty boss to strive to achieve more in the area of capacity building for the ex-militants, not minding the current challenges.
“He should not be distracted but remain focus while reaching out to all the affected youths, communities, states and all the traditional rulers in the region.
“This assignment given to Gen. Paul Boro by Mr. President has proved that he (Boro) has leadership capacity to turn things around if given more political opportunity in serving his people and the nation at large. We, the youth in South-south so much believe in his leadership style and humble nature and hereby calling on him to make up his mind for an elective office in near future.
“We are also calling on other appointees in the region to emulate Gen. Paul Boro’s humility in leadership which we believe has paid of in living up to expectation in his current assignment.”
The APC youth group, however, called on all stakeholders to cooperate with the current leadership of Amnesty Programme by giving peace a chance for the purposes of establishment to have positive effect on all and sundry in the region.
