The Special Adviser to Kaduna State governor on Political and Intergovernmental Affairs, Comrade Uba Sani, has said the demolition of a property belonging to Senator Suleiman Hunkuyi was in line with the law and done in good faith. Addressing journalists in Abuja, yesterday, Comrade Sani said by converting a residential building into commercial purposes or otherwise, Senator Hunkuyi had clearly lost the rights guaranteed him by the Certificate of Occupancy (C-of-O).
He disclosed that hundreds of houses have been demolished in Kaduna metropolis and Zaria since 2016 and nobody raised an eyebrow, and wondered why Hunkuyi’s case was sensationally celebrated by the media.
According to him, the senator also failed to pay ground rent for same property in the last eight years and cannot be seen to be above the law.
He noted that Senators Sulieman Hunkuyi and Shehu Sani are empty political elements who are only trying to make themselves relevant by causing division in the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state. He further described Senator Hunkuyi as a serial betrayer known for stabbing his benefactors, adding that he is one of the major beneficiaries of the el-Rufai-led government.
“I can tell you emphatically that the demolition of a property belonging Senator Sulieman Hunkuyi was in line with the law and done in good faith. He is not above the law. “Some of Hunkuyi’s constituents have had their houses and property demolished and he didn’t think it was something he ought to bring to the attention of the Senate. It is surprising that he is whip up sentiments to get the sympathy of the public,” he added.
