The Senate President, Dr Bulola Saraki, has given out 1,210 free Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) forms to indigent students in Kwara state. Saraki has also bankrolled the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) fees of over 500 candidates in Ilorin Emirate.
In the same vein, the chairman, House of Representatives Committee on Judiciary, Barr. Razak Atunwa, has also distributed free JAMB forms to 330 indigent students in his Ilorin West/ ASA constituency. The Director, Media and Publicity of Abubakar Bukola Saraki Constituency office, Alh Abdullahi Oganija, said Saraki’s gesture became necessary because of the biting economic hardship Nigerians were experiencing.
He added that the payment of the fees of the indigent students of the emirate was borne out of Saraki’s desire to boost the level of education in the Emirate. A statement signed by Atunwa’s media aide, Rotimi Olawale said the lawmaker gave out the 330 free forms as part of his annual activities aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 4, to ensure inclusive and equitable quality education.
He said that giving UTME/JAMB slots to less privilege candidates was no longer a new development but an initiative that has become annual and intrinsic.
