The police on Friday arraigned a 38-year-old man, Saheed Ogunbiyi in an Ota Senior Magistrates’ Court in Ogun who allegedly defrauded Ranti Odusina of N200,000.
Ogunbiyi, who lives at No. 28 Shotade St., Iyana-Iyesi, Ota, is facing two-count charge of obtaining money on false pretext and fraud.
The Prosecutor, Sgt. Chudu Gbesi, told the court that the defendant committed the offences on March 23, 2017 at No. 20, Tunde Agbojulogun St., Ota.
Gbesi said Ogunbiyi collected N200,000 from Odusina on the pretext of assisting him to buy some undisclosed goods and failed to fulfill the agreement.
He said that the offences contravened sections 390(9) and 419 of the Criminal Code, Vol. 1, Laws of Ogun, 2006.
The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges and the Senior Magistrate, Mr S.O.Banwo, granted him bail in the sum of N300,000 with two sureties in like sum.
Banwo said the sureties must reside within the court’s jurisdiction and should be gainfully employed.
He also ordered that the sureties must show evidence of tax payment to Ogun Government and submit four recent passport photographs to the court and adjourned the case until March 21 for mention.
