NUPENG Offers 100% Support To FG On Refineries Upgrade

The Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG said that the union would give the federal government 100 per cent support to ensure that all the refineries got back to their working capacity saying that government should not listen to those that were agitating for privatization of the refineries instead, it should look for a way of  upgrading.

The union president also said that NUPENG was ready to support the federal government on the issues of restructuring and state police. The union’s president, Mr. Igwe Achese, disclosed this at its union stakeholders’ meeting on what they could do to move the state of the nation forward held in Lagos, saying that it would go a long way in curbing the security challenges facing the country.

He added that the introduction of state police would allow proper checks at the borders and prevent petrol from being smuggled out to neighbouring countries. Achese commended all the security agencies for their effort to curb the security challenges, saying the federal government needs to encourage the agencies by providing necessary tools needed.

The NUPENG president stated their willingness to back the government’s decision to toll its roads, saying they were tired of the frequency and level of road breakdown in the country, and would in that regard pay tolls to ensure roads they drive on are fixed and in good conditions to travel through.

Achese said federal government should look at critical role to be given adequate attention in other to move the economy forward saying that tankers drivers were spending days on the road, so there was the need to fix them.
