NDE Commences Training Of 25,000 IDPs On Skills Acquisition



The National Directorate of Employment (NDE) has commenced skills acquisition training for 25,000  Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in Adamawa state.

Mr Keneth Maigida, the state coordinator at the flag off ceremony in Malkohi camps said, the IDPs would be trained in eleven income generating activities in camps and host communities.

Maigida stressed that the Directorate has recruited and is currently training 2000 unemployed youths in various skills acquisition across the 21 local government areas to reduce unemployment.

“Already, arrangement has been concluded to provide them with soft loan that would enable them commence practicing of the skills they acquire from the training.

Maigida reiterated that, the beneficiaries after the training would be given soft loans to establish their own business.

He advised beneficiaries of the training to take advantage of the opportunities to exit joblessness in the camps and host communities.

Hon Kabiru Mijinyawa, Speaker, state Assembly assured of government’s support the plight of IDPs in the state.

“The objective of the training exercise is to give access to the unemployed youths to acquire skills for self-employment and income generation,” Mijinyawa explained

The IDPs are to be trained in poultry, farming, beverages and pastries,cosmetology, knitting, shoemaking ,interlock production amongst others.
