The Forum of states chairmen, Labour Party of Nigeria has ask Independent National Electoral commission (INEC) to henceforth, recognise and only deal with Dr Mike Omotosho as the duly elected National Chairman of the Party.The call was made yesterday in Abuja during the forum’s meeting with the party’s chairmen from all the states of the federation tagged: “Labour Party Way Forward.”
Recalled that Alhaji Abdulkadir Salam, the former Labour Party National chairman was unanimously removed from office in the Party’s special Convention, held on 3rd October 2017 and Dr Omotosho since then was elected as the new National Chairman of the party.
The chairman of the forum, Rev Comrade J. S Ndirang said there should not have been any reason why the Party’s former chairman, Alhaji Salam is still hoisted on INEC’s website after INEC supervised and monitored the constitutional process that duly removed him.
“The state chairmen expressed their displeasure over the continuous illegal self parade of himself (A. A Salam) as the Labour Party National Chairman, even when the National Working Committee, the National Executive Council and the special Convention removed him from office. This perpetration of illegality has misled people towards assuming that the Labour Party is in kind of crisis, which is not true.
“We demand that INEC recognised and only deal, henceforth with Dr Mike Omotosho as the duly elected National Chairman of Labour Party. Labour Party also reject every plan by the party’s detractors to drag it into any unholy coalition for selfish interest.” Speaking on the current security challenges in the country, the party leaders also called on President Muhammadu Buhari to rise up to his responsibilities and protect citizens of the country.
