Peace Back To Nasarawa South, As Displaced Persons Return Home

Some internally displaced persons who fled their settlements in the wake of the recent crisis that engulfed Nasarawa South Senatorial Zone, have started returning home.

It will be recall that some border communities in Doma, Obi, Awe and Keana Local Government Areas of Nasarawa State, were recently attacked by suspected herdsmen.

When our correspondent visited some parts of Keana, Awe and Obi, Local Government Areas, the displaced persons mostly of Tiv origin, who returned home, we’re seen going about their normal businesses.

LEADERSHIP observed some of the displaced persons in their thousands were still moving their belongings back to their settlements.

Earlier, the displaced persons were camped in Lafia, Doma, Agyaragu, Kadarko, Keana, Obi and Agwatashi, to allow the dust to settle.

President of the youth wing of Tiv Development Association, Peter Ahemba, confirmed the return of relative peace and the return of the displaced persons who are mostly his kinsmen.

Ahemba, told our correspondent that the massive Return of his people was as a result of the presence of the Military and other security personnel in the state.

According to him, those returning now are those whose houses are by the road side, while those in the interior cannot move in until total peace return.

“As u can see, some have gone back, but some are yet to go, until we are sure that total peace return ”

“We are calling on the Federal and State Governments, to beef up enough security to enable our people go back home, because life has not been easy with them in the IDP camps” he said.
