The Numana ethnic group under the umbrella of Numana Community Development Organisation (NCDO), has commended the Nigeria Police Force and the Kaduna State Governor, Mallam Nasir el-Rufai, for providing the peaceful and enabling environment for the successful selection of the paramount traditional ruler of Numana Chiefdom.
Recall that the former Etum Numana II, His Royal Highness, late. Dr. Gambo Makama, his wife and two others were brutally murdered on Sunday, December 31, 2017.
The paramount traditional ruler and his wife were murdered by yet to be identified gunmen and their house burnt down by yet to be identified killers at his village Tsauni Ayuba (Asik), when he left his palace at Gwantu, the Sanga Local Government Headquarters to celebrate the New Year.
In a statement signed by the NCDO National President, Sabo Gwamna and its National Secretary, Mbachi Jonathan Adams, it stated that “The selection of the Etum Numana by the 14 kingmakers in Gwantu, the Sanga Local Government headquarters, was very peaceful, hitch-free and without rancour.
“Indeed, the deployment of sufficient personnel of the Nigeria Police Force and other security agencies to provide adequate security for the selection of the Etum Numana by Governor Nasir el-Rufai, has, again demonstrated his love for our people.
“As a peace-loving people, our king-makers and the entire Numana people took advantage of the enabling environment provided by the Kaduna State Government to ensure that the selection process of the Etum Nunama, from the beginning to the end was successful.
“We want to also recognise the tireless efforts and contributions of the Sole Administrator of Sanga Local Government Area, Mr Abdulmumuni Yakubu Ashafa, for his role in the success of the entire process.”
It would be noted that during the selection process in which all the 14 king makers of the Numana Chiefdom participated, Gen Iliya Yamma (rtd), got seven votes, Adamu Isah Shamaki got five, Adamu Chiroma got one while one vote was invalid.
The statement further added that “Gen. Yamma should, therefore, see the massive support he got as a challenge to work hard for the peaceful coexistence and speedy development of the entire Numana people, Sanga Local Government Area, Kaduna State and the nation in general.”
