Thugs Disrupt Nasarawa APC Stakeholders’ Meeting

Published

on

Political thugs at the weekend disrupted APC stakeholders meeting at the party secretariat in Akwanga town,  the headquarters of Akwanga local government area of Nasarawa State.

A source at the meeting told our correspondent that the thugs in  large number, invaded the APC secretariat along Lafia road, while the meeting was ongoing and rained insults on the Nasarawa State Commissioner for Special Education, Prof Jonathan Ayuba.

The meeting was said to be at the instance of the commissioner, to perfect plans towards the forthcoming council polls in the state.

LEADERSHIP gathered that the meeting was also  to discuss the zoning process suggested by the traditional council in the area for equitable distribution of power which didn’t go well with the thugs.

But at the middle of the meeting, some youths loyal to a particular chairmanship aspirant invaded the APC secretariat and started shouting that they were not disposed to the zoning arrangement by the traditional council in the area.

Our correspondent reliably gathered that the traditional institution headed by the Chun Mada, Mr Samson Gamu Yare, had suggested that since the current chairman of the council, Kwanta Yakubu is from Akwanga central, the power should shift to Akwanga South.

Our correspondent gathered that the zoning idea did not go down well with a chairmanship aspirant, hence the disruption of the meeting by the thugs allegedly answerable to him.

All efforts to speak to the  APC chairman in Akwanga, Micah Magaji or any member of his excos on the development failed because they declined comment.

The Commissioner for Special Education was not on seat and didn’t pick calls put to him by our correspondent on the matter.
