Also Ummhi Nigeria Limited, will construct 100 housing units, while Jifatu Nigeria Limited is to build shopping Mall.
Ammsalco Industry will also construct a modern shopping mall and hotel under a public private partnership in Kaduna to further boost economic and social activities in the state.
Speaking when governor Nasir El-rufai visited the construction site of the 500 mass housing project at Danhonu11 Millennium City Chikun local government Kaduna State ,Umar Faruk Yahaya,Director Nurus Siraj Nigeria Limited said they are also collaborating with NNPC Staff multi purpose Cooperative society,Abuja for the project.
Yahaya, said the purpose is for people to get affordable houses in a good and secure environment at affordable prices.
Addressing the ground breaking of the projects on Wednesday at the Millennium City, Kaduna, Governor Nasir el-Rufai, said that the projects that include 2, 3, and 4 bedrooms duplex, detached and semi detached apartments are medium and low income houses aimed at providing affordable houses for residents of the state.
The governor said:”There is 17 million housing deficit in Nigeria to which Kaduna state contributes five percent, we need over 30,000 housing units to satisfy the need of residents of the state. APC administration is very committed to reducing this housing deficit. As you know, the Minister of Finance has launched the family homes project across the states. Five thousand hectares have been allocated to the Federal Government to build low and medium income housing.
“That is just at the federal level, at the states level, all the APC state governments are building low and medium income housing projects. So, we are determined to reducing the housing deficit.
“These projects are public private partnership, but we make the houses cheap by ensuring that, we give land to the developers free. So, they don’t pay premium and all the charges. These are all part of efforts to make the houses affordable, nor just for the civil servants, but also for every other citizen, because the civil servants form only one per cent of our population”
Speaking on the low income housing project which foundation was laid by the Vice President Yemi Osinbajo two years ago, the Governor said, the reason they were not yet occupied was because of external facilities like road and electricity, which were not yet ready.
El-rufai,said the government was already working on bringing social amenities like water, roads and electricity to the area and promised that, it will be delivered before the end of the year.”
The Executive Secretary, Kaduna Investments Promotion Agency (KADIPA), Hajiya Umma Hikima Aboki, said having received over 250 bids from investors to build PPP projects, 65 developers were selected to develop housing projects, 14 investors to develop neighbourhood centers and 11 investors to develop markets.
