The Special Investigation Panel for Recovery of Public Properties has entered into partnership with the Office of the Surveyor –General of the Federal (OSGOF) in the conduct of its assignment.
The understanding between the two parties became officially established
when the Chairman of the panel, Chief Okoi Obono-Obla led his team to the Office of the Surveyor-General in Abuja on a courtesy visit.
In his briefing, Chief Obono-Obla said the panel realizes that for it to be effective and successful in carrying out its mandate of investigating assets of public officers perceived to have indulged in some corrupt practices, there is need to have accurate information about where and when to locate properties, hence the need for collaboration with OSGOF.
Speaking , the Surveyor-General of the Federation (SGOF), Surv. Ebisintei Awudu who accorded the team a warm welcome said the move was a welcome development as it will go a long way in curbing corruption.
Suev. Audu who noted that OSGOF has witnessed commendable improvement in recent times said the office now has enough of geospatial and properties information across the country that will be of immense assistance to the panel , adding “I am highly elated at your coming and I assure you of our readiness to furnish you with the necessary information as you carry out your task”.
The surveyor-General who took his time to educate his visitors on the history, structure, mandate and the modus operand o of his office had a device which he said is used to capture geospatial data shown them.
Surv. Awudu who expressed happiness that the budget of OSGOF has improved unprecedentedly under this administration said “We are working on some projects, and one of them is the Satellite Base Navigation System,” which he explained will help tackle the problem of low visibility faced by flight operators at times due to bad weather.
