NPFL: Niger Tornadoes Goes For 5- match Unbeaten



Niger Tornadoes Fc of Minna has maintained a four match unbeaten in the ongoing Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) since the team returned to Bako Kontagora Stadium, Minna.

The team has been playing its home matches for over two seasons, at the Confluence Stadium, Lokoja in neighbouring Kogi State, not until match day 10 of the current season when the team returned home against Abia Warriors where they defeated their visitors 2-0.

The team has been under interim coach, Hamza Abdulazeez Abara since the disengagement Erasmus Onu as Technical Adviser of the club after match day nine encountered with Rivers United in Port Harcourt.

Coach Hamza has proved a point since took over as he did not only led the team to victory at home against Abia Warriors, but also took the team to Maiduguri in match day 11 against Elkanemi Worrios and pulled a goalless draw with one man down.

The Ikon Allah boys also returned home in match day 12 against the league defending champions, Plateau United and defeated their visitors 1-0, placing the team in a more comfortable position on the league table.

The Minna landlords under Coach Hamza also pulled a surprise in match day 13 against Kano Pillars at the Sani Abacha Stadium, on Monday, where the team made their host to sweat before getting away with a point from the match.

Niger Tornadoes took a lead in the 20th minute of the encounter through Andrew Ikefe who tapped in effort from Babawo Ibrahim, not until the 80th minutes of the game when Junior Lokosa converted a penalty awarded the host team.

Niger state darling team, Niger Tornadoes recently got morale booster from the state Governor, Alhaji Abubakar Sani Bello who approved some fund and also donated a brand new Coaster Bus to the team.

The team will be home against Sunshine Stars of Akure on Sunday, for the matchday 14 fixtures with a hope to continue their unbeaten runs in the league.
