A nongovernmental organisation( NGO), Civil Society Legislative Advocacy Centre (CISLAC) has called on government at all levels to increase their budgetary allocations to women and girl-child empowerment.

The executive director of CISLAC, Auwal Musa Rafsanjani, who made the call recently, also called for a political will to implement the legislation concerning the girl-child.

Rafsanjani recalled the unfortunate plight of young women and girls in Africa, especially the dehumanizing conditions of early marriage, abduction of Chibok girls in 2014 and the recent incident in Dapchi community.

Also speaking, the manager health, human development and social inclusion (CISLAC), Chioma Kanu, stressed the need for the rights of the girl-child to be protected by the three arms of government, legislative, executive and the judiciary.

Kanu frowned that Nigeria is replete with powers and policies that are not coasted or captured in the budget to enhance implementation.
