The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in the 19 Northern States and Abuja, has advised Nigerians to put away all forms of prejudices against one another in the interest of national development.
Rev John Joseph Hayab, the Spokesman of the group, in a statement, also appealed to Nigerians to start demonstrating Jesus’ spirit of forgiveness, endurance and tolerance in order to make the country great.
“At Easter, Jesus taught us to forgive those who have caused us pain, because He himself was patient with those who held different opinions or views from Him and He endured hardships so that he could complete his mission here on earth for our Salvation.
“Christians therefore should be patient, endure hardship and forgive always. Jesus did not only teach us these virtues but he demonstrated them at Easter.
“Our communities, states and nation will become a better place if all Nigerians, irrespective of our identities, can stop thinking evil of others or those we feel have wronged us.
“Instead, persevere in hardship, frankly correct all misunderstandings or misrepresentation and then work patiently together to improve things around us.
“Our leaders, at all levels, must make honest sacrifices as Jesus did for the people to have a good future.
“We have been praying and wishing that our country will be great. It
is now time for us to put our prayers and wishes to action so that we
can achieve greatness,” the statement read.
